Reduce Your Homes Flood Risk – Mastic Beach

Our office sent out the attached letter regarding the Fire Island to Montauk Point (FIMP) project to approximately 187 residents, identified within the Mastic Beach Pilot Program Area.

Key Points –

The project is a joint effort by the Town of Brookhaven, U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, and NYS Department of Environmental Conservation.

The pilot focuses on properties in Mastic Beach and enrollment from August 21 to November 30, 2024.

Participation is voluntary; non-participation won’t affect your property or invoke eminent domain.

Public Meetings:

August 21, 2024, 6:00-8:30 PM at William Floyd High School, Mastic Beach.

The letter seeks your interest but does not guarantee elevation, enrolling does not guarantee elevation either. Final determinations are to be made directly by the Army Corps of Engineers.

Participation involves signing a Right-of-Entry with the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers and a Restrictive Covenant.

The project covers eligible elevation and foundation retrofitting costs.
